Greetings:
I have a 2000 server that is getting old, so I and wanted to add a 2003
server and eventually phase out the 2000 box. I added the domain controller
no problem and the 2003 connects to the 2000 no problem. However, when I try
to connect to the 2003 from the 2000, I get "The RPC Server is unavailable."
However, if I try to remove the domain role from the 2003, it fails because
"The DSA operation is unable to proceed because of a DNS lookup failure."
Other issues/symptoms:
The time is not synced between the servers (much less the clients).
When I log on from a client, the shares on the 2003 come up as disconnected.
Once I click in, it lists as connected, but if I wait to click in the share
won't be available.
When I try to message it won't go.
I am clueless (thrust into this role), so I'm hoping someone can help me.
