Mary Ann

I have recently installed Access 2003 and have installed
the Jet 4 Service Pack 8.

I still get a security warning when I open an Access file
that I have created. The warning is:
This file may not be safe if it contains code that was
intended to harm your computer. Do you want to open this
file or cancel the operation?

Firstly, does this mean that I haven't installed the Jet
4 service pack properly? I thought it was supposed to
block unsafe expressions.

Secondly, if I have and it is going to five me this
message anyway, is there a way I can tell it not to show
the warning for the Access files I have created. The
huge majority of Access files I use are ones I have
created myself. It will be irritating to have to deal
with this message every time I open one of my files.
I've seen the Trusted Publisher tab but I don't have a
digital certificate - am I correct in thinking that I
would need one to put myself on that list?

Hope you can help

You can to go Tools, Macro, Security and set it to low.

If the security item isn't on that menu, you may need to reset your menubar.
See

If these are just for your use, you can create a self cert on your computer
and digitally sign your databases. More info at

Thank you. If I use a self-cert but do also need to
occasionally open the database on other PCs will it still
open?
