One of my users received a powerpoint presentation created in Powerpoint 2003. He is trying to add slides, but we use Powerpoint 2002. He keeps getting the a generic error: 'Powerpoint has encountered a probem and needs to close. Sorry for the inconvenience.' Even just scrolling through the slides will cause this error. It is a large file, over 100 mb. If you view the error report it has had ntdll.dll as the problem and other times mso.dll. Is the problem that the original file was created in 2003 and we are using 2002? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Encountered a similar situation in January. Make sure your clients PPT 2003
has all service packs installed. Our issue was with images, going from 2003
to 2002. Once the service packs were installed the issue was resolved.

Actually anyone using PPT 2003 should have service pack 1 installed as a
mandatory item. 2003 had a few bugs in its initial release and most are
resolved with the service pack. For your situation, I do not believe the
issue is PPT 2002, but the content creation on PPT 2003.

Mu user has all the service packs installed for 2002. But you are saying
that the creator of the original must have all the service packs for 2003
installed? Thanks.

Yep, CRITICAL UPDATE, not Service Pack.... a little terminology mix up, and
it is just that - critical.
Thanks for clearing up my mis-labeling (all said applies, except the name of
the update).
