Looking to buy a sealed Windows O/S disk, described as
follows, from someone:

Version 2002 Microsoft Windows Professional.
For Distribution with a new Dell PC only
Made in Canada

Is this likely to be Windows XP Professional, or Windows
2000 Professional, or a limited version of either?

Will it install on any Pentium 4?

Your help is appreciated.

xp professional, xp = 2002

yes but it will crash later

I would contact Dell for this disc if you need it, and no it probably won't
install on any computer if it is a Dell OEM disc.

XP runs extremely well on P4's. Why do you need a Dell OEM disk? Any XP
disk will install on any PC.

Why would you trust a Canuck?

Yes, but probably will only activate on a Dell.

Here's one that works on any PC for $85:

Yeah right! A genuine valid XP Pro license for $84.99... If one just
takes time to read the questions and answers to the seller they will see
things like:

Since this does not include a COA, does it therefore mean that when I
install a new system it will work for only 30 days until I purchase a
COA to activate it with Microsoft? If so, how much is a COA?

SoftCDStore's response:

This is a full version. No activation Needed. No COA.

Transaction ID#: 372401 Windows XP Pro SP2 installed but could NOT
activate because product key was NOT valid. Why have you not emailed me
a valid product key as requested? Windows soon to expire. Michael Adickman

SoftCDStore's response:

Please give us Your Email Address, We will send ASAP!

You're probably the crook behind these incredible deals. Hopefully,
(since you had the nerve to post the link on a Microsoft server),
Microsoft picked it up and the whole alphabet soup (FBI, CIA, ATF et al)
will show up at your doorstep... followed by an army of Microsoft lawyers!

That's better than most. Also, Most of the buyers are satisfied.

The average price you'll find for a Microsoft Generic OEM will be around
$135, The average for a Dell Branded OEM that installs on any PC is $92.

You, on the other hand, should fork over $199 for a Retail Upgrade.
