I get a error message only saying "undeliverable"on every send for
both users. It has all updates and am using XP Pro with all updates.
This suddenly happened. I "dirty" installed over it with negative
results. On a Dell 8200 with no other problems that I'm aware of.
Second Pc on same line is fine. Any suggestions?? TIA

That's a rather vague description of the send failure. What error code
and failure message do you *actually* get?

Your right, I was going to include the following:
I immediatly, at the snap of a finger, get this return from
System Administrator
TO: my email nick name
Subject: TEST

Thats it, the message area is blank.
Who is the SA? I don't have one set up.Also it seems not to remember
some addresses, like my own, which I use for test.

As I said I did a "dirty" reinstall of Office 2002 & updates with no
positive results. In mail still works fine.

Is your e-mail client using Exchange for your mail server? Or are you
connecting to POP and SMTP servers? Are you connecting to your own
internal POP and SMTP servers, or to your ISP's servers?

You have changed the description of your problem. First it was that you
got some error message saying "undeliverable" (but didn't show a copy of
the actual error output so it is unknown if it an error from your e-mail
client or from whatever mail server that you are trying to use). Now
you're saying the problem is that test e-mails you send to yourself
*are* getting delivered but with no body (i.e., content). Or did you
mean you are getting a bounceback e-mail in which your original e-mail
is not shown? Not all bounceback messages will include the original
e-mail, or they may include only a partial listing, or the original
e-mail is an attachment.

You also mention that "it" (which is presumably your e-mail client)
doesn't remember some addresses. For the nickname that you enter in the
To, Cc, or Bcc fields, does it resolve to an e-mail address or do you
just see the nickname text? The text gets underlined (maybe not until
you move the cursor into the body field) if it finds that nickname;
otherwise, it's just text with no associated e-mail address. If you
right-click on the entry in the To, CC, or Bcc fields and select
Properties, is there an e-mail address listed? If no e-mail address is
listed, do you have that nickname defined under the Details tab when you
open that record in your Contacts folder? If the rest looks good, it
could be that your .NK2 nickname file is corrupted; delete it to have it
recreated. Info on the nickname file can be found by searching on
"nickname" at http://support.microsoft.com for the Outlook product; a
couple KB articles that may be related to your issue are
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;287623 and
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;299962.

I'm on DSL with Verizon as the ISP. I'm not into pops or smtp. I hit
send and in a snap I get this "undeliverable" from: System
Administrator. To: Vic. That's it, nothing else on it. As I said all
mail is coming in OK. The home built box is fine, so I would deduct
its a situation within the Dell.

How can I tell if it's a bounceback? All I know is it's back faster
than a blink.

If I could get all the wifes info out I'm tempted to format that
partition and install a image I saved 2 weeks ago. I thought reloading
Office would correct it to. Is there a way to remove office and have
it save all data into the fresh clean install? Or might I be putting
bad things back in?

It really doesn't take much to get into POP and SMTP since these terms
are used within the configuration of your e-mail account within Outlook
whether you understand what they are or not. POP = incoming mail
server, SMTP = outgoing mail server, and that's how they are described
in the e-mail account configuration in Outlook.

What are your mail server settings in your e-mail account(s) inside of
Outlook? No guarantees since different regions may use different mail
servers even within the same nation-wide company, but I suspect the
e-mail account (Tools -> Email Accounts -> View or change, pick one, hit
Change button) should probably be setup as, per :

Incoming mail server (POP): incoming.verizon.net
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): outgoing.verizon.net

Since you can retrieve inbound emails, your username and password are
correct (but the ones specified in this first window are actually just
for the POP server which *usually* get reused for the next connection to
their SMTP server).

Click the More Settings button. Under the Outgoing Server tab, do you
have "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" enabled? You
probably don't need this if you are using an SMTP server that is on the
same network as for the POP server. Under the Advanced tab, are the
default port numbers used (110 for POP and 25 for SMTP)? Is SSL enabled
for either mail server (it normally is not)?

Of course, if you're using your computer at work then maybe you are
using Exchange for your mail server (i.e., your company provides its own
mail server and might be using the one from Microsoft). Are you
connecting to your own ISP from home, or is this a company computer at
your workplace?
Thanks for your comebacks. Both units are strictly at home use. The
wife is a nurse and belongs to some Organizations that she is active
in and uses it mostly in that regard, I use the homebuilt email mainly
to receive spam, I'm just not that important to get much involved
with, like cell phones. I'd rather go fishing which I am now.
BE WELL

Bingo. The two above settings were different from the working box,
making them the same corrected the outgoing problem. THANK YOU FOR
GUIDING ME THERE. Now my feeble memory recalls that some months ago
Verizon sent a notice regarding changing the settings. My fault, after
65 memory refresh bit loss.
