How do I install xp on a computer that has 2000 on it. I
get to a window that asks me to press 'C' if I want to
create a new partition but nothing happens

Thanks,

Kevin

Upgrade? Put in the XP CD while in Windows 2000.
Clean installation? DELETE the partitions and create a new one. Everything
will be lost.
Install on the same partition as Windows 2000? Just choose the same
partition as Windows 2000 is installed on.

From your description it sounds like you have an OEM XP CD, which can only
make a clean install.
If so, don't press "C", just go on, it will (AFAIK) format your C: drive
next ...
(If it doesn't format C: it will still install on C: , leaving all old junk
on the drive taking space..)

(What else does it say on that screen? Nothing like delete partition?

Also, was there any screen earlier that asked: "do you want to
update/upgrade" or "make new install"??)
