They are somewhat compatible. Animations and Transitions that were
introduced in 2002 will not display, but the file will open and do the best
it can.
That is, unless the file was password protected. 2000 does not support
password protection and will not open these files.
Another option is for the client to use the new viewer to watch the
presentation. It does not allow editing, but will support all the new
animations, transitions and passwords.
