2000 Speed Issue

I have a 2000 pc and it has been running fine up until
about 2 weeks ago. Suddenly it is lagging alot and
everything is just to slow and it locks up alot. Is there
anything besides defragging that could help increase the
speed of it? The hard driver still has 14.5 gigs free so
that isn't the problem either. Thanks.
