I'm running W2K at work and I have SP4 installed.

When I create a new user I open my MMC and go to "Active
Directory Users and Computers" and select a current user
and try to do a copy. I'm doing this on my workstation and
not directly at the server.

I get the following error: "Object <username> cannot be
copied because: An invalid Active Directory pathname was
passed"

I've talked with other people and they have the same
problem but it works okay if they haven't upgraded to SP4.
Also, I can create a new user from scratch without any
problem.

I don't think it's something unique to our domain but I
don't have any proof that it is or isn't.

I've searched and most of what I come up with involves
confirming registry entries which are all there.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the reply.

I've tried running it directly from the Admin Tools and I
still get the same error. Tried running it from a server
too and the same error again.

Unfortunately I do not have convenient access to a domain
controller to try running it directly from there.

Does the user you are trying to copy reside in an OU which
has a "/" in it's name?

thx,
Bryston

I have seen too many issue with Windows 2000 SP4.
Will Microsoft recall this SP4 ?
I have 50 servers and 5 exchange 2000 server with 1TB Exchange Database and
500 users. I think I will wait till next year to do the SP4 installation

Is it true that Microsoft forgot our Windows Network/System Admin community
like tech magazine said ?

Please fix it please !!!
