I am setting up a network and am having problems getting the client
permissions set.

server:
2000 server
Active Dir installed
All updates and patches

client
XP Pro
All updates and patches

My problem is that once I join the domain on the client machine I can no
longer change my time or nothing. I want my users to me able to for the most
part administer all aspects of their desktop and keep server permissions
separate.

My question .... how do I do this. I tried to add the use to all the policy
places ...
I tried ...
Domain Controller Security Policy (Set user)
Domain Security Policy (Set user)
Local Security Policy (Set user)

I tried setting the
Security Settings->Local Policy->User Rights Assignment->Change the system
time(add the user to this)

But I still cant set the time on the client

Any ideas?
Thanks,
Donnie

You are configuring the right user right assignment. By default that user right
assignments is not configured at the domain security level, which would allow
you to configure it via Local Security Policy, but either way should work and
domain policy would allow you to configure all domain machine with one setting
unless the machines reside in an Organizational Unit that has a more restrictive
policy. It is possible the policy has not propagated yet. Run secedit
/refreshpolicy machine_policy /enforce on the domain controller. Using gpresult
may help troubleshoot the issue. --- Steve

Just add the user (or all domain users) on the XP to the Local
Administrators group.
