Hi - My pc has always been a bit flacky and is prone to
crash out - with physical memory dumps - when switching
off. I have now tried to reinstall 2000 again and then
got into all sorts of trouble and could not get the re-
install to run through to completion.

I have added a new disk and this loaded 2000 ok initially -
I added the original disk and could read it.

Now the pc again will not boot up correctly and constantly
reboots after the window 2000 logo goes off the screen
I built this pc myself about a year ago and is quite high
spec
Any help would be appreciated - David

David,

What is the stop code your receiving when it crashes? This is going to
narrow down the issue so we can focus on whether its hardware related or
possibly a driver issue.

Let's make sure your memory is good as well. You can download our memory
tester here: http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

Things have moved on apace now. I have added another disk
and installed 200 on it - then hooked up the original disk
and I could read the disk (so my data not lost)
I have copied the new winnt dir over to the original and
renamed the old winnt directory. I replaced the original
disk to boot off it but it comes up trying to re-install
win 2000 - I think this might be something in the registry
that requires changing - So problem sort of sovled since I
can get to my data - I now intend to copy the data to disk
format the disk and re-install from scratch again - This
takes time but I think it is the best option.
I think the original problem was related to the vidio
drivers/controllers - which I have now resolved. Thanks
for your help in this matter - please feel free to
comment - Regards David
