2000 pro with XP client set up

I have finally wired the computers through network cards
My host pc is a Win 2000 professional (external broadband), my client is a XP home edition
The network icon appear on the toolbar as connected, but I haven't set up 2000 yet...how do I do it? The xp set-up file doesn't work on 2000 apparently..
I need to share internet connection, files and scanner..

hope you have high speed internet and a router.
a cheap linxsis router is available in bestbuy for under 50 bucks

it comes with cd to configure primary pc used to connect to internet..

all other pc's if has OS higher than 2000 should work just fine with
automatic default configuration.
