I have a column needing 20+ numbers entered into it. Every time I
click off the field with 20+ numbers in it, the entire data changes to
new undesirable numbers. Why is this? I do know if I place an
underscore in front of my 20+ numbers the problem does not happen.
Thanks

Hi Diana

My guess from the little you have said is that someone is playing a
practical joke on you. Leaving paranoia to one side for a moment, what do
you mean by 'click off the field'?

Who set this spreadsheet up?

Geoff

Diana,

Either format the cell as text before you enter the data or precede your
data with apostrophe. I don't think you can use any other number format
because of the precision limit for all numbers which is up to 15 digits
only.

Oh, I thought she meant that she had to enter 20 or more numbers into a
column of cells. What you have said makes excellent sense.

GB,

She did say 20 numbers, implying 20 cells. If she'd said 20 digits in a
cell, the confusion would have been avoided.
