Gray asphalt

Fry's Electronics. Sounds to good to be true.
The ad says Gigabit NIC. Is that a brand and
I'm being fooled? Anybody want some if the
price is true?

$20 Aopen 10/100/1000Mbps NIC (http://snipurl.com/63ch)
$24.99 D-link 10/100/1000Mbps NIC (http://snipurl.com/63ci)
$26 Netgear 10/100/1000Mbps NIC (http://snipurl.com/63cj)
$17.999 Zonet 10/100/1000Mbps NIC (http://snipurl.com/63ck)

So, you actually have a 1000Mbps network? Hubs, switches, routers, and
such actually run that fast?

Well since it seems OP has a Fry's nearby, I've heard they have/had a sale
on these for $50... pretty good price but don't know how long the sale
lasts or stock, etc.

I've got a 3 computer network on 100. But sometimes
it would be worth it to move the cat 5 cable to a gigabit
card for file transfers on a peer to peer basis. Maybe.

If by peer to peer you mean to connect two hosts together without an
intervening hub, you won't be able to do that by moving the cat 5 cable.
You'll need a crossover cable.

True. I'd have to put a crossover male to female inline.
Thanks for the reminder. : -)
