Basic rule about files and especially folders on hard drives...
IF you don't know what it does DON'T MESS WITH IT!!!
You may substitute the less polite "f..." word for "MESS" when not in
mixed company.
Expect multiple sets of things like "jaytee's Documents", Favorites,
Quicklaunch menus and start menus for EACH Windows XP user account AND a
set of many of those folders for "All Users". ALL these will be inside
the main "Documents and Settings" folder in the boot partition of the
hard drive. If there's ANY doubt about the function of these folders
DON'T change things within the "Documents and Settings" folder with the
Windows Explorer window.
Use the "Explore" and "Explore All Users" in the "Start" button menu's
context menu (access through a right click) to make any edits to
shortcuts on the "Start" button menu.
Use "Organize Favorites" on Internet Explorer's "Favorites" menu to edit
what changes you wish to make to favorite listings.
You can drag shortcut icons on to and off of the Quicklaunch menu (on
the Windows XP task bar) if it is enabled.
Administrative privileges will be necessary to change the "All Users"
favorites, "start" button menu and Quicklaunch menu. Have each OS log-in
account user change their independent and separate favorites, quick
launch menus and user start menus.
Have each account use the "My Documents" alias to manage their own
document files.
Use "Shared Documents" directly under "My Computer" to store and manage
documents you want accessible to all accounts on the computer.
Feel free to use Windows Explorer to edit the "My documents" folder at
the top of the "explore" folder listing OR the "Shared Documents" folder
in the first layer within the "My Computer" folder.
