In an attempt to repair XP, I somehow ended up with 2 versions of XP on the
computer. It runs fine but everytime I start the computer it ask me which
version I want to run. Is there anyway to remove the old version without a
reformat?

***Just delete the unwanted XP install.

Then run >msconfig< with the run command and click on the >boot.ini< tab.
Delete the line with the unwanted install of XP.

BACK UP THE BOOT.INI FILE FIRST.

Easier to click the CHECK ALL BOOT PATHS button, it will verify which of the
two is the correct one and ask
you if you want to delete the other.

Had the same problem, lol, luckily knew how to fix it, since I multi-boot
with lindows on the other partition.

Yes totally agree :-) I have just installed 3 SCSI drives and 3 copies of
WinXP, one for each member of the family. I got so fed up with Dialers,
spam, viri etc. and yes I have firewalls, antivirus etc. even have a cable
router with firewall but when it's other, humans/children they haven't made
any software to stop 'em fiddling. LOL

If this doesn't work will have to set up administration rights etc. haven't
played with that yet.
