Why is windows limited in the network bandwidth it uses?
The best performance I've got so far is 8%
Typically it's around 2%

There seems no advantage to using a GB network card, GB hub, and GB
interface on my NAS.
I was getting 20-50% of the bandwidth of my 100M card, now it's 1-8% of a
1000M card - hardly a stunning improvement !

I have the same issue and have not seen any resolutions anywhere, and
no replies to my post. Does this describe what you're experiencing?

Is windows limited?
I'd suggest the limitation is the hardware.

Just because a device has a 1Gb/s connection doesn't mean the hardware can
support it.

A top of the line 7200 RPM hard drive can transfer 65MB/s from the outer rim
of the disk
This drops to 35MB/s for the inside.
Under average useage, you know reading email whilst a copy is happening I
often get it as low as 15MB/s

Try using HDTune to see for this yourself.

So with HD's at both ends that will vary in throughput and shared buses the
results are hardly surprising.
