2 things that no longer work in 5728

Paula

Two things that no longer work and are new to this build (5728) are my
Audigy 2 sound card and also free AVG anti-virus.
The OS seems to be running a bit faster that 5600.

Avast doesn't work either. It wouldn't update, so I removed it and
reinstalled it, then Vista tells me that it's been blocked due to
compatibility problems, and it's the very latest version, so I'm with no
Antivirus software right now. I agree, 5728 seems to run just a bit faster
than 5600, and it also installed 25 seconds quicker. (Not a huge jump, I
know.)
 
Trend Micro PC-cillin had to be reinstalled but works fine. Raxco
Perfectdisk 8 works but wont do a boot-time defrag.

It's a kind of a never ending story with Vista and AV-software.
AVG also doesn't work any more here. Avast installs fine, with-
out (!) any hint or warning but after the mandatory reboot it won't
load and Vista warns about known compatibility issues. Shouldn't
I already get the warning when I try to install Avast?

Anyway, have you found a working AV-software?

I was able to get the Audigy 2 sound card working again by reinstalling the
beta driver found on the Creative Labs website SBAXVSD_PCDRV_US_2_10_0000.

Avast doesn't work either. It wouldn't update, so I removed it and
reinstalled it, then Vista tells me that it's been blocked due to
compatibility problems, and it's the very latest version, so I'm with no
Antivirus software right now. I agree, 5728 seems to run just a bit faster
than 5600, and it also installed 25 seconds quicker. (Not a huge jump, I
know.)

I know what you mean Kai.
On each and every new build I have to use a different Anti Virus program
because the previous one no longer works!
Beta's are fun ya know!

There is a beta from Avast that works great in 5728.

I did an upgrade install from 5600 to 5728-
Avast seems to be working fine. Avast
build 4.7.833 Sep. 2006.

Run the upgrade while in Vista. Put the DVD in
and (depending on Autoplay settings) you will be
prompted to run the setup.
