I recently installed a 2nd sound card, in addition to my
current one, to allow my self to use a feature in a voice
chat program called Team Speak 2. However, after
installing the card when I now restart once my pc gets
past the windows xp logo screen it just goes to black. Xp
eventually loads but it sits on that black screen for
about 5 minutes, but once loaded everything works fine. I
have checked my IRQ's to make sure that the new card was
not interferring with anyothers, and it was not. I am out
of ideas, any help?

Hello JD,

Sounds like a problem with either the software that was installed with the
Sound Card or the driver for the Sound Card. Also, it is possible that the
card itself is bad.

Is it slow when you either remove the new card or boot to Safe Mode?

Did you install any software besides the driver for the Sound Card when you
put the card in?

What Sound Card is it? Have you verfied that you have the most recent
driver for the Sound Card?

You dont need 2 sounds cards to run team speak. You
probally have an i/o conflict. I would take out the card
that is the slowest and just use one. Second if you have
onboard sound and you install a sound card, your onboard
sound is automatically disabled. Try installing or
updating your drivers with your new sound card.

The onboard sound is not necessarily "automatically disabled" Mine had to be
disabled in the BIOS otherwise, in control panel I had the option of which
to use.
