2 Security Questions

I don't know if it's ok for 2 questions at once; I'm new. I intend to get
good and eventually help when can!

1. How do I get the Security Bar in Internet explorer to stop. I checked
the settings but, well, as much as it's important, sometimes it really slows
my pc down.

2. I have Norton System Works 2005 > Use Antivirus auto protect for firewall
instead and switched off Windows Firewall. When I check the status in
Control Panel\Security Center, Firewall is listed as being on. Security is
very important indeed. I'm studying another response I found to fully
understand Security Importance and measures. Should I be concerned about
status:on vs. I disabled?

1. Open IE, click tools, options, click security tab, highlight Internet
Zone, click customize, and then disable the automatic prompting for activex
controls I do believe. Slowing you down or not it's not the best idea to
disable such a critter but, well, you asked...

2. Double check with Norton for such things. They should have figured out
how to interact with the firewall without any problems. It could, though, be
saying that the Norton version of a firewall is on. Without more details I
can't tell you. What you can do is simply open up your network connection
and check to see if it's enabled in the properties there. If it's enabled
and Norton's is enabled at the same time you could run into problems with
some connections at times. Try updating their product or contacting them for
information as to why they're not interacting with the service properly.
