Have used this printer for about a year.

1) I am suddenly getting "no paper" errors tho there's plenty of paper
in the tray. Have fished for stuck sensor, sure back door is closed,
etc.

2) Toner cartridge in quite new but now prints lighter on right side
of every page than the left. Have done cleaning, rolled & shaken
cartridge, turned on dark and dark text.

Seemed like a good product but....

1. Does the paper tray in this printer have a sensor? I don't know the model.
It may not have one in which case the error message will result from a "paper
late" condition. That means that the printer detects the paper elsewhere in the
printer but too late and "assumes" no paper. Normally this is caused by worn
feed rollers. If there is a sensor then it will be easy to find above the paper
tray, normally a small plastic lever that hangs down.
2. The laser lens may be dirty, I have no idea where it is in this printer but
it will be near the position of the drum (when the drum is in the printer),
usually above and it may have a shutter over it which is opened by the drum
unit when inserted. If you can find it, a wipe with a soft dry cloth is
probably all that will be needed. Otherwise it is likely to be the drum that is
failing. I assume that the problem occurs when printing from the PC and not
just when copying? If it only occurs when copying it will be scanner related.
