Is it possible to set up a small LAN with only two PCs with a wireless
network card each?

I already have a Windows XP PC and I'm planning on building an additional
Linux box. How do I configure a wireless network with only two cards?

My cable internet connection is currently going into my XP PC - how do I set
up access to the internet on my Linux box via the XP machine?

TIA for any advice.

Set both cards to connect Ad-hoc, not infrastructure. This allows card to
talk to each other, rather than needing a wireless access point. At that
point..theoritically anyway you should be able to turn the internet
connection sharing on and presto...but I am no Guru on linux boxes.

You need to add a wireless router, and then you can also share an Internet
connection.

Yeah, but I don't have the money to spend on that, so can I not just use
Internet Connection sharing from my Windows PC?

You DO NOT need a wireless router...my friend has two windows XP machines
networked via AD-hoc (without router) using 2 802.11b cards and internet
connection sharing, and it works fine. The only catch is that the primary
machine has to be ON for you to get internet...

Generally a WiFi router can be had for under $50, there have even
been a few for $20 after rebate with a PCI card. IN the past
they've been $10 after rebate for 802.11b... worth the $ to buy
one.

You can indeed use ICS sharing from the WIndows PC. Set the
other PC to use the ICS box's IP number as the gateway.
