I am composing a merge document in Microsoft Word 2002.
The second page of this two page document is supposed to be identica
to the first page (the same information will be merged into the secon
page as the first page)EXCEPT that I want to have the word "COPY" as
watermark or a backgroud on the SECOND page ONLY. Can anyone tell m
how to set this up?

I've tried these two approaches so far:
first
turn on in page set up/layout/different first page, try setting u
watermark while on the second page

second
insert section break at the top of the second page, then vie
header/footer, and de-select "same as previous", next set up watermark

Both of these result in a watermark on BOTH the first and second page

Is there a better way to print a document with the second page labelle
as a "copy" of the first page?

I will sincerely appreciate any help. Thank

From the View menu, select Headers and Footers and insert the watermark into
the header of the documnet, setting the wrapping options to through. When
you have that the way that you want it, click on the Page Setup button on
the Headers and Footers toolbar and go to the Layout tab and check the
Different first page box. Click OK to close the Page Setup dialog and close
the Headers and Footers toolbar.

Now, on page 1 you should not see anything, but if you add or go to page 2,
you will see the watermark.

I assume you're using the Format | Background | Printed Watermark command to
insert the watermark. I imagine that this does insert the watermark on every
page. Although Doug's instructions for inserting the watermark in just the
Header (omitting the First Page Header) will certainly work (and in all
versions), in Word 2002 and above it will be much easier to do what you have
been doing, then open the First Page Header and delete the watermark from
that header. The watermark, once created, is just the same as in any other
version: a graphic anchored to the header, and it can be selected and
deleted when the header pane is active.
