After uninstalling McAfee firewall, which seemed to attach itself to every
living program this is what followed: Outlook XP came up requesting a new
profile, which was very unexpected. I created a new profile and pointed to
the outlook pst file which gave me all the personal folders back. Understand
there is a lot of folders and rules, but my problem is I now have a new set
of outlook today folders that work and my old set that can be viewed. The new
set of folders receives the mail and I have to move the mail to the old
folders, which had rules. I need to get the old set working again and get rid
of the new set. I notices you can't just move the mail to the old inbox and
delete the new one because it won't let you and plus I need the rules back or
I am in a world of hurt.
I also pulled in the archive pst file and that is at the top of the folder
list. Just to clarify what the folder list looks like; I have archives at the
top, next I have the old folder set and then the new folder set.

According to microsofts web site the pst file holds the rules, so I am
confused about were I point to import the rules? Also I emulated my problem
on another computer and found that it does create 2 Outlook todays and here
is how you delete the one you don't want:
Right click on Outlook and go to Email Accounts:View or Change, then click
the Email account your working with and then go to the drop down which says
"Deliver new e-mail to the following location" and pick the correct Outlook
Today as viewed from the folder list.
Now to Delete the Outlook Today set of personal folders you don't want click
finish and return to the previous mail setup screen and go to Data Files go
to settings to check the the set is the correct one in the correct place you
want it, then click the set you don't want and click settings just to double
check and then remove.
Now this is were I am running into a problem: I open Outlook and my folders
are back yeah! BUT NO RULES!
I would love to know were to get the rules, because I could not see
recreating the 100 or so.

Bob,

I am running Outlook 2000 SP1 and recently I found my outlook folders list
has a 2nd complete OUTLOOK TODAY (Personal Folders) listing. When I run
Advanced Find and browse - both folders show up there also. I try to delete
the 2nd entire personal folder and it says "can't delete personal folder"!!!
When I delete one email or subfolder from the 2nd duplicate Personal Folders
list, it also deletes from the original Personal Flder! It has doubled the
size of my PST file and I am having trouble the first time I open Outlook and
I have to manuall CTRL-ALT-DELETE - shutdown Outlook then reopen it.

What a pain this is and I don't know if it happened when I upgraded toe SP1
or with Norton or Mcafee?

HELP!
