2 Optical drives

Using XP home, 1024 RAM , HP with 2 DVD-RW burners.

Nero and Digital Media see the 2 Optical drives but Win Xp does not let me
click the drive letter to load the info.

Error message pops up.

Click | Start | My Computer | Double click R or S drives | R:\Drive
Unavailable

But, Roxio can see / burn / CD / DVD to the Sony DVD -RW on S:\ and Sonic
Media Plus can burn, etc. on R:\

After using the DVD software then Windows explorer will see the drive, name
of DVD and it opens with a double click or browze with a right click, and
after a reboot the DVD names, etc. are there in Windows Explorer.

It seems to happen when there is a new blank CD or DVD when the error
message comes up.
 
Windows cannot recognize blank DVDs without having third-party software
installed for that purpose. Blank CDs are recognized, because Windows
XP has a built-in CD-writing wizard (a mini version of Roxio).
