2 network adapter server. internal/external ip addresses question

Hello
i have an exchange2003 server with 2 network cards. One card serves as the
internal network interface with an internal ip address. the other net card
is on attached to the live internet. On my DNS server there are host (a)
entries for both. i think that for some users it sometimes resolves to the
external address for email access which doesn't work as well (if at all) as
going through the internal address. If i delete the entry it just recreates
itself. how do i get rid of that entry or point it to the internal adapter?

In your DNS server properties on the interfaces tab configure DNS to listen
only on the internal address. Then to stop the creation of the Blank records
with the public addresses follow this and manually create the blank record
for the private address: 295328 - Private Network Interfaces on a Domain
Controller Are Registered in DNS

If this is also a Global catalog server manually create the blank
_gc._msdcs.<DnsForestName> "A" records for the private addresses.
 
You will also need to make sure that this doesn't compromise your MX record for your internet domain if this exchange server receives internet mail. If the mx
record points to the name that you are only registering internally, you will not receive internet mail any longer.
