Is your webcam watching you? Sophos reports on worm that spies on
innocent computer users
The W32/Rbot-GR worm can spy on users via their webcams.

Sophos has warned computer users about a worm that has the capability
to use webcams to spy on them in their home or workplace.

The W32/Rbot-GR worm spreads via network shares, exploiting a number
of Microsoft security vulnerabilities, installing a backdoor Trojan
horse as it travels.

W32.Sasser.G is a variant of W32.Sasser.Worm that attempts to exploit
the LSASS vulnerability described in Microsoft Security Bulletin
MS04-011. The worm spreads by scanning random IP addresses and drops
W32.Netsky.AC@mm.

This is why the default windows firewall (which a great many people use)
needs to be better. But I would hope most people who use webcams know
enough that they would use one of the 3rd party internet security packages
or simply download one of the free ones.
