After an earlier repair install (XP Home), WMP 10 got messed up and
wouldn't roll back, so I was advised to try another repair install. I
just did that and now have two or maybe three problems for which I'd
like to ask advice:
1) After installing all the Windows updates, Windows Installer 3.1 won't
take and the yellow shield keeps coming up (just like it's been known
to get stuck with Windows Defender beta 2).
2) WMP 10 (or 9) still won't install, rollback or run. Is there any way
to get rid of it (and install it again) short of a new full install?
3) During the repair install there were the following error messages
for files that wouldn't install, though they are present. My question
is whether this is something I have to deal with or if the updates would
have solved them.
- Com+ set up error, C:\Windows\System32\catsrv.dll
- C:\Windows\System32\inetcomm.dll
- C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msoe.dll
- C:\Program Files\CommonFiles\System\wab32.dll
Thanks,
Gene
