Hi,
Recently I reinstalled, Windows XP and Office XP onto my fathers computer
for him. I transfered the 3 main critical files for him that brought up all
his emails, and his contact lists etc. My problem is this, on the left hand
side there is Outlook Shortcuts and Folder list, menu's, clicking on the
contacts button/hyperlink will bring up the contact list that I transferred
across from the old HDD. The Address book search feature, in the top main
toolbars, and the Address book browse button directly next to that, do not
link to the contacts for some reason. Therefor we don't get the email
validation that usually occurs when you type a person's name in the To: box
while composing an email. If anyone knows what's going wrong or can make a
suggestion, I'd appreciate it. I've done a fair bit of poking around, but I
tend not to use outlook.

The reason is that you failed to configure the Outlook Address Book service.

Hi
Thanks for the reply, I have checked that all out. Unfortuneatly this seems
to be a permission or incorrect folder problem, when I click the address book
button I get the following pop up: 'The address list could not be displayed.
The contacts folder assosciated with this address list may have been moved or
deleted, or you do not have permission.' I believe it is a case of when I
moved the file...what is the default contacts file name and extension and in
what folder should it be located in?
Thanks in advance,
cheers,

Further to my last, I have deleted all address books, and then created
another one as we already had an outlook address book, which wasn't
working...I unselected then reselected for the contacts to be an address book
and did that to all sub contact lists, when I reopened the address book, it
had imported in all the contacts! Thanks for the link, I just needed to get
annoyed and delete the old address book first!

Problem Solvered.
