I recently purchased a "new" pc, w/ the new XP home edition, well when
installing , my pc took the initial install but... my pc stated it needed the
disc in to boot again after I'd finished booting, I re-inserted the disc
into my pc, it then installed a second installation of the same program, and
I still have to put the disc in each time I start my pc, my storage is now
very limited & I can't download any other programs intill I resolve this
problem, how do I get rid of one of these 2 downloads, any help is
appreciated, thank you...

oh, and I forgot to mention I did follow the instructions given in the
troubleshooting section, but this did not work since the XP program is not
listed in the add/remove programs section, is there another way of
eliminating the secondary install...?? again, thank you for any help/info....

Take a look at this article:

# 20 I have two installations of XP on the same partition:

Keep in mind that after you complete the installation you
should reset the BIOS to boot from the hard drive before the CD
drive. The only time you hit a key when it says "Boot from CD
ROM" is when you first start the installation. After that you
simply ignore the message.

Should you decided to start from scratch here are two web sites
that you may find helpful:

Good luck
