Hi everyone! Okay I know this has been discussed to death here, however I
just want to make sure I get the right answer. Now that I recently purchased
a new computer with Vista, It seems I don't have the option to keep 2
distinct identities for email purposes like outlook express on my old
computer. I would like both me and my wife to have individual email accounts
so that both have privacy to read our emails. We do not want to read each
other's personal or business emails. How can I do this on Vista?

You have 4 choices.

Separate Windows users.

Purchase this program.

Upgrade to Windows Live Mail:

One of you use a different email program.

As Cal suggests, set up two Vista user accounts then each of you will
have your own WM message store in addition to having the flexibility to
customize your desktop to personalize it for each of your tastes.
Logging on to Vista with separate accounts takes only a few seconds and
each of you will then have separate email, internet favorites and your
own documents, music and pictures folders.

To set-up a second account click on the Start Orb, choose Control Panel,
choose User Accounts and Family Safety, then choose User Accounts - Add
or remove user accounts and create your second account. Each of you
will have an icon to click when your computer starts up and can have a
password to access your account or can be used with less security by
leaving the password field blank.

to insure you do not read each others mail. each use their own computer. you got 2 now.
that's about the only way without using some other none native program.

you can create rules to move each one's mail to a personal folder but there is no security to keep the other from reading it.

not wanting to read each others mail does not sound too cool. like what's to hide.

Hi Danny

I am not sure those that answered above have helped. To me you were asking
about having to different email address's not to separate accounts on the
computer.

Email account are supplied by your ISP (internet service provider) and the
first one you have been given is not changeable but your ISP probably lets
you set up at least 4 extra mail address's.

If you had already got one for your wife you need to set these up in Mail
that comes with Vista. If my assumption is right you can come back if you
need guidance with setting account up.
