I am trying to create a word doc that has 2 colums. I know how to insert tables but I don't know how to make the lines invisable
can you help?

Darryl,

With your cursor inside the two column/single row table that you have
created press CTRL+ALT+Q.

Use can also use Format>Columns for create columns in Word.

If a table is what you really need, you can remove its borders (see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/TblsFldsFms/Borders.htm). But if you want
newspaper-style columns, then a table is not what you need; see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/UsingColumns.htm

It's actually Ctrl+Alt+U.
