You are all so helpful, perhaps you can solve some nagging issues that I
have relating to reading the Usenet groups.

When I read a posting that I want to keep track of--either because I posted
it, or the subject is of great interest--I mark it with the eyeglasses.
This makes it easy to follow the thread.

After I read the entire newsgroup, I click on Mark All Read. Then I go back
and remark all the eyeglasses posts as Mark Unread. This keeps that
conversation intact for the next day. It's this last operation I'd like to
avoid. Is there a way of automatically keeping a particular thread from
being marked as read until further notice? I realize I could simply not
click on Mark All Read, but that results in a rapid increase in the
newsgroup size and a lot of detective work to find the new stuff.

Second question:

Is there a way of printing a filename in color at all times? There are some
filenames I'd like to always be printed in green. Others in red, and a few
in blue. I'd like the color to be part of the filename, so that it follows
the name around from place to place. I realize that blue is reserved for
certain file names, but I'd like it to be available for any filename. I
don't want to change the color of the text in the file--just the filename.

Thanks one and all. This is a great group.

Second question:

Compressed NTFS files are displayed in blue.

Encrypted NTFS files are displayed in green.

If this option is selected in Folder Options...
Start | Run | Type: control folders | Click OK |
View tab | Show encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color

Show encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color
[[Specifies that the names of files you compress or encrypt on NTFS drives
appear in a color when you view them in a folder window. This does not
apply to folders you compress using ZIP compression utilities.]]

You can use TweakUI to change those colors.

What do you mean by printing? Printing on a piece of paper?

If the conversation is marked as Watched and Outlook Express detects a new
post in the watched conversation it will show the newsgroup in red in the
Folder List.

Using color as an organizational aid is not a feature of Windows. There
are probably some third party tools that can do this though. I've never
used any so cannot recommend any but I seem to remember "folder magic"
mentioned in similar threads. Again, that's not a recommendation - have
only mentioned it hoping that it might get you pointed in a direction
that will lead to an answer.
