I have a 5GB C: drive partition which I intended to use
for the OS (WinXP Home) only. The partition is also home
to MS office and a couple of other prog's which don't like
installing to any drive other than C:. For about 6
months, the partition has caused me no problem - sitting
at about 65-75% full.

A couple of days ago, I decided to complete an "upgrade"
XP install over the top to try and fix some stability
probs i'd been having.

Since then, my 5GB C: partition has only 450Mb free and
while attempting to clean it up, I noticed that my
C:\Windows directory has blown out to a whopping 2.12GB -
I'm pretty sure that's about double what it used to be.

Any help greatly appreciated - cause my systems suffering.

Thanks

quite common prob!! Often windows misreads the disk space. I have the same
prob. Actually, the C:\pagefile.sys is some cases is the responsible for it.
It overgrows!! I am still looking for a solution of it

Install windows xp tweak 2.4(for free available at
www.tweakinternals.com)and under the system tab mark
the "clear paging file at shutdown" box, it takes a
little while to shutdown, but will increase you're whole
system stability and make the windows folder smaller.
GOOD LUCK!
