ok. I got everything put together, booted, got to press f1 to setup or del
to enter bios. I hit f1 & get to:
verifying dmi pool data........ update success
Than nothing. It just sits there.
The first time I started it up I got where it asked me to insert OS disk. I
did. It ask me to press f8 to accept terms or esc to not accept. f8 would
not work. Just sat there. esc & then the above prob started. I tried
clearing the cmos.
Two messages I saw. Don't know if they mean anything:
cmos checksum error - defaults loaded
primary ide channel no 80 conductor cable
Here is my set-up:
case (Antec Sonata w/Antec 380w psu)
mobo (Abit nf7-s w/ on-board 5.1 Audio)
cpu (Athlon XP 2500+ Barton 333fsb)
memory (Kingston HyperX pc3200 DDR400 1GB kit (2X512mb))
video card (PowerColor ATI Radeon 9600 PRO 128MB 8X AGP)
hard drive (Western Digital SE Caviar 80gb)
cdrw (52X32X52X Lite-On black)
dvd-rom (16X Lite-On black)
floppy (Alps black)
mouse (optical) & keyboard (MicroSoft black)
OS (WinXP Pro)
Help...
Thanks,
Heath

Got your IDE cables round the right way?

I fixed my cables & the cable error went away. But it still stops at
"verifying dmi pool data".

Check the jumpers on the HDD are set to primary master, and that your BIOS
is set to autodetect?
