i need to network 10 computers on my own can anyone give
me links to guide me, or can you give advice(roters, hubs
switches, modems and stuff). Not asking the impossible i
hope.
thanks

Go to http://www.computergate.com and search under the
network hardware link and look at the switches and dsl
routers by Linksys. I have them here at home and they
work good. Computergate is a good place with real low
price. You will not get the parts in the packaging you
would at BestBuy or anything but they will be new. If it
does not come with the manual, you can always get it off
the web. If you want it in with all the directions and
all that, you might want to try BestBuy. You can always
search google to find networking tips for any OS. Good
luck!

If you need advice from the ground up (and it sounds like you do), you
may be in over your head. Although what you want to do isn't hard
physically, there are many areas here that are gray. Examples:

Do you want client/server or peer-to-peer networking?
Are the 10 systems close or spread out over several rooms?
Do you need to support file/print sharing, and how do you want to do
that?
Will these systems be sharing on common link to the internet, or NO
internet connection (a closed network)?
Do you need dial-up access from the outside into this network?
How do yo want to handle e-mail within the network?

These are just a few questions to consider. Half a dozen more just
popped into my head while typing this paragraph. Although it costs,
you *may* want to consider a consultant if you really are a novice.
