Yeah, I found Dell's offering -- I'm leary about buying anything from
Dell, mostly because on my last 4-5 attempts to buy something, sales
kept saying "I'll have to research and call you back" whenever I asked
any question about specs that wasn't covered by the website. In no case
was any call returned.
The one time I tried to order something via the web, I received all the
confirmation emails, the order went to the shipping stage, then sat
there for 3 weeks. I called, it turns out their web orders go to a
sales rep to process them (fair enough), and the sales guy was too busy
so he hadn't entered the order, now the promotion was expired.
*mutters*
On the plus side, I've received amazing service on the piece of Dell
hardware I own, an Axim. I bought an external wireless card from Dell
(this was before the current series which has wireless internally), the
card was defective. I called around 3:30am, it took about 30 minutes of
being transferred between departments before I found the department
which handled wireless issues. They agreed the card was defective and
had a replacement card to me at 1pm *the same day*
I'd be happy with a 17"-18" display (my laptop is 17.1"), but I need the
right resolution. I can probably sell my current 18" LCD fairly easily,
so the $899 pricetag on the 2005FPW isn't *that* bad.
