1600x1050 Screen Resolution

I have been drooling over the Viewsonic 21" VX2025WM or VA2012WB wide screen LCD monitors that are now down to about $300.00...

These monitors have a native resolution of 1600x1050...the website cautions to be sure that your video card is capable of 1600x1050...

I have the latest drivers and the Catalyst Control gives the option of 1600x1200 or 1680x1050, is there any method of hacking the card or driver to provide 1600x1050 screen size?

Or will either of these settings work OK with some screen adjustments??

I'm running an AIW Radeon 9800 128Mb
(Asus P4P800SE w/P4 3GHz 10% OC'd, 2 GB RAM)

The display comes with a disk that will set the resolution to the right
size.

ATI and also Nvidia drivers hide widescreen resolutions until they
detect a widescreen capable display. If the driver recognizes your
monitor then it will list the 1680x1050 automatically.

BTW: this has been asked (and answered!) a bazillion of times already.
Next time please at least try to find the answer yourself

Where did you get the information that they're 1600x1050? From the Viewsonic website, they have an "optimal resolution" of 1680x1050, which you've already identified that you can use.

BTW, they also show the vx2235wm, which has an MSRP only $10 more than the vx2025wm. Thanks a bunch; now I need a new monitor! :( Ah, well, dual display with two LCD's may be livable (instead of LCD and CRT). :)

Thank you guys for the valuable help...

I did a bit of "Googling" to find an answer and found ton of stuff relating to Linux Coding for monitors..after I found the ATI Group I had been unsuccessful in finding anything relating to wide screen resolutions???

?? Why "formerly happy"??? I just got a vx2025wm recently and
it seems pretty good. Is there something that the vx2235 has that
would make it worth the upgrade? I am looking at the vx2025wm
as the more widely supported widescreen LCD. (Thinking it might
become a sorta defacto standard, in that area.)

2" bigger diagonally, and only $10 more (based on MSRP). Given a choice
today, I know which one I would choose. :)

I meant the comment tongue in cheek. I'm still exceeding happy with my LCD,
and glad I bought it. As I said, if I did anything, I'd ditch the 19" CRT
and get the 22" monitor, for 42 diagonal inches. But as I type that out, it
seems excessive even to me. If there could be such a thing as applied to
computer hardware.
