Overclocking the Phenom was a good read. Ta.

Aye it was a good read with the Phenom getting to 3.8GHZ on air now that is impressive..Power hungry but impressive..

Anyone else notice how the little Core 2 Duo performed admirably in such company..I was very pleased as my new Sony Notebook runs a little more powerful chip than the one in the tests..

Aye that E8500 looks darn good.
The Phenom II does not use a lot of power as standard so I guess if you had two profiles for it you could overclock it just for gaming. Then you would have a reasonably priced lowish power pc for all uses.

THe only good thing about phenom II is thats it still socket AM2+ so a good upgrade but its still £230 or £195 for the 2.8Ghz.

The AM3 socket Phenom II with DDR3 support should be the better processor, although i think they need to be cheaper to sway people from Intel Core 2 Quad.

Although from reading some other reviews it seems that all they have done is made the clocks higher and 25% extra cache and thats it.

Oh and it overclocks better.

I was actually looking forward to these being released as i'm looking into parts at the moment for my new PC in March/April time, but it seems to be a bit of an anti-climax again.

Will see how much i have to spend, if its £1000 i will get a Corei7, if not then i will wait another 4 weeks and get a Corei7

Hopefully by then the SSD you keep updating us with will be slighlty cheaper although i'm supposed to be off to America in 4 weeks so cheap shopping.
