I've upgraded an older Presario from 98 to XP and
everything works fine except the 1394 port. Device
manager says there is no driver installed but I am under
the impression that XP has a 1394 driver. Help?

You're labouring under a misapprehension. If this is an on board FireWire
port we're talking about, then you will need to download the chipset driver
from either the system manufacturer's, or the board manufacturer's, site. If
it's an add-in card, then you will need to visit that manufacturer's site
and download the driver (I, for example, have a FireWire port on my
soundcard).

Its and Adaptec PCI card and I've been all over the Adaptec site but can't find any reference to my model "AIC-5800AP

You could try getting the most recent driver from the
motherboard manufacturer's website (or the card
manufacturer's site if it's a separate expansion card).
Always worth doing... Hope that helps.
