Hi all.

I bought a 120 GB Hdd.
I want to install W98se and XP on this drive.
So I tried to make partitions with FDISK.
but fdisk only sees 51 GB.

So I booted XP and made the partitions in computer management.
No problems there, but what will Windows 98se do whith the hdd ???

Will it work properly or will I get in trouble ??
What will scandisk in dosmode make of this ??? ( when 98se hangs and has to
started new )

any ideas / suggestions ???

THX in advance

If i'm correct, W98 had problems formatting large discs, but once they were
formatted it see it perfectly. So if you made partitions with XP, just start
with W98 boot floppy and you will see the size of partition (bu ti hope you
didn't make NTFS partition for W98 - must be FAT32).

You need to get a newer version of FDISK:

Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - Q263044
Fdisk Does Not Recognize Full Size of Hard Disks Larger than 64 GB
The information in this article applies to:

* Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition
* Microsoft Windows 98
* Microsoft Windows 95

When you use Fdisk.exe to partition a hard disk that is larger than 64
GB (64 gigabytes, or 68,719,476,736 bytes) in size, Fdisk does not
report the correct size of the hard disk.

The size that Fdisk reports is the full size of the hard disk minus 64
GB. For example, if the physical drive is 70.3 GB (75,484,122,112
bytes) in size, Fdisk reports the drive as being 6.3 GB (6,764,579,840
bytes) in size.
Cause
Fdisk uses some 16-bit values internally to calculate the size of the
drive. Some of these variables overflow when the drive size is equal
to or larger than 64 GB.

What is Windows 98 Gold??

I know Windows 98, Windows 98 SE. I am in Canada. Is Gold an version
available outside North America?

Just curious.

Your motherboard and its BIOS determine whether or not a 120gig Hard Drive
will be supported in any MS operating system.
