I need help deciding between SCSI SEAGATE CHEETAH 73GB 10K and the WD Raptor 74GB.

The average seek time is about the same on both, but the SCSI has a 16mb buffer and the Raptor an 8mb buffer.

Right now I saw the SCSI advertise for $50 and the cheapest price on the Raptor is about $172. Is there any reason not to get 2 of the SCSIs and a controller card?

System specs:
DFI Lanparty Ultra B
XP3200+ cpu
1 gig Corsair TwinxLLPT
ATI Radion 9700 Pro
Enermax server case
Antec Neopower 480

$50 is cheap ...

Get me 2 as well will you. :D

Ditto :D

I must confess that struck me as a very reasonable price when I first read post.

I don't suppose, Pan, you gotta link to that supplier? I got contacts in The States ;)

And two Cheetahs on a good controller card will absolutely fly :)

Sorry, but you have an NForce4 mobo...2x SATAII drives in a RAID0- with NCQ should compete, and be much quieter, with less heat. $50 is EXCELLENT for a SCSI drive, I have to admit. Saw some Cheetahs on Ebay for £19 each + delivery..was tempted.
