Please, Looking for a little insight into a problem with this error.
Puzzlement. Event error follows.
Am trying to get them to replecate some recent activity, but no luck as of
yet.

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Userenv
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1000
Date: 8/28/2003
Time: 6:44:27 PM
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Computer: (anon)
Description:
Windows cannot unload your registry class file. If you have a roaming
profile, your settings are not replicated. Contact your administrator.

DETAIL Access is denied. , Build number ((2195)).

And this is probably not related, but after the same person looked in the
event viewer to rip the error info. for me and said they could not read
anything else afterward. In asking further, they said they tried to look at
the security errors, but nothing was there, and then after returning to the
apps. there was nothing in the right pane. I asked them to boot, and check
again. The apps. errors could be seen again; then they went to the security
pane and nothing and back to the apps. pane and nothing again.

Could, would someone be so kind as point me in the right direction.

thanks in advance,

don

A User May Experience a Slow Logoff Process Because of an Open Registry
Handle in the Classes Hive
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=319909

Basically it says to apply SP4 to fix the problem. This error has been
reported in other place (I saw it on Symantec's site) sometimes with
slight variations, and they all say the same thing, apply SP4.

Thank John,

I called and double checked to make sure SP4 has been installed, and it has.
Thought maybe it may be a hotpatch that could be removed.

Do you have any experience with the Event Viewer problem?

thanks,

No but I did see something somewhere about a certain patch causing this
problem... let me look in my history file... Ha here it is:

January 31, 2003
Microsoft Windows 2000 - Windows cannot unload your registry file.
http://www.asitis.org/archives/000134.html

I didn't really read this article but it says something about
uninstalling Q329170 Hotfix.

I have same problem (take long time to logoff) with
security patch 823980 (w2k SP3 and SP4) only in PC with
local printers. I have remove the patch and and it works OK

You really want to have the 823980 patch installed on your system. If you
don't get hit by Blaster you'll get hit by something else (unless that
computer is not connected to anything that would come in contact with other
hosts on the Internet) -- this is not something to play around with.

I have written a freeware service that takes care of this class of problem
(userenv/1000 or userenv/1517). If you are interested contact me for more
information.
