On my new computer I had a 100% usage problem.
It turned out that my 6-in-1 device -- card reader, USB port, floppy
drive -- had a process installed with it that caused the drive icons for the
card reader slots to change reflect the type of card they used. In my case
it was called SetIcon.exe. Totally useless. I stopped that puppy from
loading and the usage went down to between 0% and 2% when nothing is
running.
So look for things like this that would cause the high usage.
