When ever I open my windows media player 9.0 my CPU usage hits 100% every time. I've tried uninstalling windows media player using my Windows XP disk and then reinstalling it. But this doesn't delete the upgarade which i got off the internet. How can I delete the upgrade (i've looked in add and remove programs but can't see ne thing obvious) to see if this fixes the problem or is there any other way to fix the problem?

My computer has a 1.3GHz and should be powerful enough to run without a problem. NE Help Given would be greatly Appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, a 1.3GHz has plenty of power to run WMP9.0, but another question is: How
much RAM do you have? You'll need a minimum of 256megs but 512 is better.
CPU spikes of 100% is normal for it is loading your music library. Once loaded the System Idle Process should be between 93 and 98%. Run Task Manager to check after WMP has loaded.
Rightclick the Taskbar/TaskManager/Processes tab/click CPU above the column
to see where your spikes are. It could give you a clue.

When I open the task manager wants windows media player has been loaded for a while the cpu next to windows media player is at a constant 99/98%

Thanks Screamer

One solution is that your WMP is corrupt. Reinstall WMP over top of the old one
which should correct the corrupt files.
