Have the original CD Dictionary. It shoots up to 100% CPU usage once
lauched.
Contacted the supplier. They say "We're not aware of it" .
Install it on Win ME computer and it does the same.

Is there a way to set how much RAM and/or CPU an application may use ?

Thks

I don't see how contacting the supplier would help.

No.

There are 3rd party programs that can limit CPU for specific programs, e.g.

http://www.hpaa.com/moslo/4biz.asp

But a "simple dictionary" shouldn't be pegging the CPU (unless it's a DOS
program).

Open TaskMgr | Processes and click 'CPU'. Who's the hog?

Try this Program-will adjust Cpu usage for Front Processes & accelareate
your system by aprox 300 % without hardware change-
Do a Google search for HARE or go to mfg @
www.dachshundsoftware.com You WILL love this Program -Trial is Free .

Was hopping that I can restrict MEM/CPU usage similar to the Mac OS.
This is a simple text database application with no graphics.
MEM 2.5 Meg
CPU 100% !!!!! When I close it CPU drops to 2%

Would LOW priority help ? Instead of NORMAL by default.
Will try HARE

Thank you all

It is a text ONLY French dictionary made by the famous HACHETTE group
called Dictionnaie Hachette 2000

MEM 2.5 Meg
CPU 100%

When I close this application CPU drops to 2%
