I searched here for an answer to a problem and came across
a few hints. Ultimately I got an answer from Sony support
and thought I would "share".
My laptop's CPU was running at 100% capacity with SYSTEM
responsible for the problem. I had installed Norton
SystemWorks some time ago without thinking that the PC had
come preloaded with PC-illin. The Sony tech support
fellow pointed out that doubling up on virus protection
can cause conflicts. A recent update to one or the other
was probably the source of the problem.
I uninstalled PC-illin -- voila! the CPU usage problem
has disappeared.
