I am running XP with an AMD Athlon 64. When saving pictures off the internet
it takes approx 10 seconds before I can move on to the next. It seems like
at one time I could save as fast as I wanted. I watched the Taskmanager and
my CPU is maxed-out every time. Also under the processes tab there is one
item denoted as "MsMpEng.exe" SYSTEM that is going to 95% usage. A guy
recently installed Adobe Photoshop with 14,000 GB, and also Divx, Nero, and
an AC3 decoder, however I still have 118 GB free space with 62 GB in use on
the hard drive. Should I uninstall these items?

That program belongs to Windows Defender. It is having a hard time
determining whether
the files you download contain malware or not. Search the internet for
further advice.

No, I would not remove those items.

First try deleting your Internet Temporary files.
Click on Tools and Internet options.
In the middle of the opening window, click on Delete Files. A small window
will open check Delete all..., click OK.
