im using frontpage 2003 to design my site. i use a ms package from 1and1 to
host my site. my domain is easara.co.uk but i have 2 sites

www.easara.co.uk
easara.co.uk

i need to get rid of the easara.co.uk and just keep the www.easara.co.uk
version to stop google indexing both sites. i've looked into using the
..htaccess file but i understand this cant be used on an ms server. does
anyone have any ideas to help me please?

Both links are valid, but Google's webmaster tools has an option to tell
Google to always use one way or the other.

Go to Google.com and search for Webmaster Tools - I can't give a link
since I am automatically taken to my Google account pages.

hta is for Apache, he's on IIS

Under IIS, you web host would have to remove the reference and access for the domain without the
www.

Do you need the windows hosting for anything? Get yourself moved to a unix.

Sign up for google anyaltics and webmaster tools ... and you can tell google
a setting in there that will stop the diluation of your url at least in
google.

You don't have two sites ... you just have two ways of presenting it.

Make sure that you present your url everywhere the same way and that in your
site you do a direct link without the index file ... that's another version.

Google guidelines will give you a lot more information .... your on the
right tracks with seo:)
