1.convert from VHS and 2.how to convert audio

I just mastered how to convert my digital camera mov files and burn a DVD.
Now can someone tell me a similar way to convert my VHS tapes to a file that
I can trasfer to a dvd? I have a toshiba laptop and do not have the outputs
(red, white, yellow) for the camcorder. Yes I am a novice. Also, I tried to
add audio to one of my video projects and it told me that MM2 could not play
an m4a. How do I convert my music files so that they will play. Sorry to
compound my questions, the first is way more important to me.

If you have a stand alone DVD
player/recorder that also includes
a VHS player/recorder...all you
have to do is play the VHS tape
and record it on the DVD.
